Marc Quarter is a Southern Maryland based singer/guitarist covering many decades of popular American music. His repertoire includes a blend of classic 50s tunes, lots of 60s Beatles tunes, a healthy portion of 70s and 80s popular music, the Blues (his roots) and includes some Modern Country music of today. His style is bright, interactive and aggressive, and it just might get you up dancing to "Songs You Know By Heart".
Marc has created his "One Man Band" using modern digital magic in the recording studio. When performing his One Man Band, Marc is literally "playing along with himself", singing the lead vocals and playing lead guitar solos. The music sounds like a full band, with drums, bass, background harmony vocals, keyboards, and percussion.
Marc fondly recalls growing up in Miami...always listening to and wanting to play music. Whether it be Beatles or Beethoven, it captured his imagination. Instead of going on the rides at Disney, he'd wander off to the bandstands at age eight. Soon, his family inherited a neighbor's lonely acoustic guitar and he began to pluck on it. A week or so later, sheet music in hand, he was strumming the weeks' number one AM radio hit. By seventh grade, he joined up with a few junior high schoolmates playing electric guitar in a band poolside during holidays at Miami Beach hotels.
But the band he really wanted to play in needed a bassist...and after begging his dad for a new bass rig, his high-school years were with what ultimately became one of the best three-piece 70's classic rock cover bands in Dade county FL. After hundreds of explosive gigs, and a diversion to playing jazz for a while, the financially strapped college years were spent poolside in Tampa, singing "acoustic guitar party tunes" on weekends. These were the "play for beer" years. Marc continued to hone his instrumental and vocal skills playing with many fine musicians and bands in the Tampa area for a number of years. Before heading north to Maryland, Marc was lead vocalist/bassist for Radio Crime, an outstanding Tampa Bay festival oriented classic 70s rock band. After gigging around "here and there" with a few southern Maryland country and rock musicians for a few years, Marc began to feel the pull of getting the One Man Band up and running. Once again, playing for family or friends and weekend gigs at the local pub, he's back in his element these days... "playing for beer"! Playing "Songs You Know By Heart"!
