One Man Band Recording Process

Using a modern computer-based digital multitrack recording system running "Presonus Studio One" software, Marc starts with the drum track. It can be programmed from commercially available software, or in some cases a WAV file can be downloaded/purchased off the Internet. Once the drum track is completed, Marc then continues by adding the Bass guitar track using his G&L L-2000 or Fender Precision bass. Then various electric and acoustic guitar tracks are added next, usually strumming/rhythm guitars first. Marc likes to layer the rhythm guitars for a fuller sound, and uses Telecasters/Stratocasters and various six-string acoustic guitars to accomplish this layered sound. In some cases...he even adds a "Nashville Tuning" parlor guitar to put the angel hair on the top. Then, it's ready for the lead vocal. Once completed, harmony voices are added, and then the lead guitar solo recorded if required. If appropriate, the cherries on top would be piano/organ if desired, and even maracas/tambourine and shakers percussions. The possibilities are endless.
In order to turn the finished product in to a Backing Track for use in a Live Venue, Marc simply removes the lead vocal and lead guitar tracks, and makes a new copy. It's this "backing track" that can be played back "live" thru the PA system. Marc will then sing the lead vocal part and play the lead guitar parts, live in the venue. The end result: a full live band sound of many tracks Marc created in the studio.
